99 Cent Novellas

I am having a lot of fun putting together my upcoming 99 cent novella double feature! I’m through the outlining phase and have final word count totals in mind for each story. The characters are in place. The scenes are set. Which means, I’m back in writing mode!

I try to be very consistent when I’m drafting a project, with a set word count goal for each day. Of course, life happens so I have to be flexible with my plans but generally, I manage to stay on deadline. I find having a goals journal with a daily schedule of what I need to accomplish really helps keep me on track.

“The Package, a novella”, is moving along faster in its development. I’m well into drafting it at this point and am really liking the way it’s shaping up. The lead character, Noa, is a travel blogger who enjoys reading spy novels during her trips. Not just any spy novels, Cold War spy novels. Her passion leads her to launch a second blog on the topic. Noa’s blog catches some unanticipated attention which turns a working trip to Vancouver into her very own thriller.

As you can imagine, the research for this novella has me typing some really odd queries into search engines! You never imagine the random things you’ll end up looking up until you start writing.

The second novella project has a rough outline at this point and is beginning to take shape. At this point, I can say it’s something of a Jewish rom-com with an ending that will probably have your Bubbe saying ‘oy vey’. But that’s all I’m going to say about it for this week; more to come.

  1. That’s amazing. I have been dragging my feet for a couple months trying to complete one small book. Putting together posts are tough enough. Very impressive.
